Are you feeling frustrated because someone else had registered your dream domain
name? These days, almost every word or phrase that has some meaning has been
taken up. It doesn't matter if it's a .com, .net, .org, or .info - everything
appears to be registered.
Fortunately, .Tel is going to be available for
registration soon. From 3rd February onwards, you will be able to register for
your favorite .Tel domain name. You can register for your-company.Tel,
your-name.Tel, keyword-phrase.Tel, and so on.
Those who are aware of
this piece of wonderful news may just be lurking to snap up as many .Tel domain
names as possible so that they can squat on the domains and resale them later at
a much higher price. Sensing the same would happen with the release of .Tel
domains, the prices are adjusted accordingly. From 3rd February to 23rd March,
anyone can register for a .Tel domain name, but at a price of ?25 for a 3 year
subscription. The premium pricing is charged because of all costs charged by the
registries to discourage domain squatting.
So how is a .Tel domain name
different from a traditional domain name?
Individuals and businesses who
want to get a web presence have to start off with a domain name that has not
already been registered. They can register for domain names at a domain name
registrar such as GoDaddy or NameCheap.
Once a domain name has been
chosen and registered, the DNS (Domain Name Servers) need to be changed to point
to a web hosting server. That means the website owner has to have a hosting
service in order to start using the domain name.
Content such as static
HTML pages will then be uploaded into the servers, and the website is live. The
entire process is simple enough to understand, but rather cumbersome. There is a
need to buy hosting, generate content, and maintain the website.
However,
for .Tel domain names, you don't have to worry about DNS, hosting, etc. All you
have to do, is to sign up for the domain name. After March 23rd, the price will
drop to ?4.95 for a one year registration. You may wish to register after March
23rd if you want to avoid paying the initial premium pricing. To save money, you
can even choose to order in bulk. When purchasing in volume, price for a .Tel
domain name can be as low as ?.45 (100+ domain names and above).
Once the
.Tel domain name has been registered, you will given an account where you can
login and input your details such as personal information or company
information. There is no need for hosting. The information you entered will be
live on your website immediately. That also means you can edit your .Tel website
any time you want to with any device as long as you are connected to the
Internet.
